Project Details

Project Summary: This project provided a school community center for athletics, as well as multi-purpose rooms for classes and arts & crafts.
Project Owner:
Maryknoll School
Project Dates: 2010

This project provided a school community center for athletics, as well as multi-purpose rooms for classes and arts & crafts. A fitness center with a training office is also included for athletics, PE classes, and for alumni use with a dedicated hospitality room specifically for the alumni.

The gymnasium included regulation basketball and volleyball courts for games with two full basketball and three volleyball cross courts. The facility also includes locker/showers for athletics and PE classes and meetings. The bleacher seating capacity is 1,000 with an additional 500 floor seats for school assemblies, theater productions, or church gatherings. Other spaces provided in this complex are the athletic director’s offices and storage for equipment and supplies.

The facility is air conditioned to help minimize the noise to the neighboring apartments. Parking is located beneath the building and an off-street road was built to eliminate traffic congestion to the local streets during drop-off and pick-up times.

Mitsunaga & Associates, Inc. (MAI) provided complete architectural and engineering services for the project.

“I found the professionals of Mitsunaga and Associates to be very intelligent, excellent communicators, creative problem solvers, timely with deadlines, sensitive to details, and aware of the needs and expectations of Maryknoll School during the entire planning and construction process.”

Perry Martin, President
